Athena Dimitrakopoulou
CURRICULUM VITAE
Soprano
and actress Athena Dimitrakopoulou was born in Athens. She received
her vocal performance diploma with honors and first prize award
from Meandrion Conservatory of Athens in 2009. She attended the International Summer Academy Mozarteum (Salzburg
- Austria 2011) with professor Edda
Moser as
well as masterclasses
with Montserrat
Caballé (Spain
2009), Neil Semer (Germany
2010), Cheryl Studer (Greece
2011), Louis Manikas (Greece
2016) and Roberto
Coviello (Italy
2017). In 2016 she received her acting diploma from Veaki Drama
School.
She
attented the workshop of director Theodoros
Terzopoulos and his method (Greece
2014). She also attended workshops with Krzysztof
Warlikowski (Greece 2017) and Complicite
theatre group (Simon Mc Burney) (Greece 2017).
Autumn and winter of 2019 she cooperated with the Greek National Opera playing the musical "MY FAIR LADY" (music: Alan Jay Lerner) directed by Yiannos Perlegas.
Winter and summer of 2019 she was playing the musical (adapted for children) "THE VALS OR FAIRYTAILS" (music: Johann Strauss) directed by Carmen Rouggeri.
Winter and summer of 2018 she was playing the opera (adapted for children) "HANSEL AND GRETEL" (music: Engelbert Humperdinc) directed by Carmen Rouggeri.
Summer of 2017 she was playing the opera (adapted for children) "MAGIC FLUTE" (W.A.Mozart)
directed by Carmen Rouggeri.
The summer of 2016 she cooperated with director Michael Marmarinos and Greek National Theatre in the ancient Greek comedy “LYSISTRATI” (Aristophane’s) and performed at Ancient theatre of Epidauros, Herodion theatre, Ancient Olympia theatre, Ancient Filippi theatre, Romaiko Odeio Patras.

2012 she held the leading role (Anna
1) in the
opera “THE
7 DEADLY SINS” (Bertold
Brecht - Kurt Weill) in “Rouf
Train Theatre” in
Athens. Directed by Ilia
Kontou and
conducted by Andreas
Tselikas.
In
2005-2006 she participated in the music theatre “HORIKA
– Eternal service to beauty”, directed by Stamatis
Kraounakis, with theme the ancient choral texts. These
performances were presented in the Ancient Theater of
Epidaurus, in the Theater of Delphi and
in Megaron Athens Concert Hall.
In 2000
– 2001 she presented the music performances “We step
aside poet for you to pass” tribute to the life and
work of Greek poet Yiannis Ritsos, with his poems set to music by
composers: Mikis Theodorakis, Yiannis Markopoulos, Thanos
Mikroutsikos, Christos Leondis with “Nea Ionia Orchestra” under
conductor Stefanos Psaradakos (staged in Athens, Monemvasia, Chania,
Tripolis, Karditsa, Kavala, Ioannina, Serres etc.)
Since
1995 her concert performances have included appearances in Megaron
Athens and Megaron Thessaloniki Concert Hall in
Greece, “Adnan
Saygun” cultural
center of Izmirn in Turkey, Auditorio
Palacio de Congressos of Zaragoza in
Spain.
CD
recordings include those of “Stin Akri ton Paramythion” (=
By the Fringe of Fairy-tales) composed by Thanasis
Dritsas on poems of Odysseus Elytis, Elephteria
Zabetaki-Dritsa, Christos Boulotis, Helen Choreanthi (2008, Protasis
Music), and “To Kerasma” (= The
Treat) composed by Stavros Sophianopoulos (2006,
Ankh Productions).
